About Us

The Brick Store is the Oldest Continuously Operated General Store in the United States.

Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the Brick Store has been in business since the early 1790's. Having served as the post office until 1942, some of the original post office boxes still remain. On the outside brick walls you can still see the old painted signs advertising Morrison's English Liniment and Lady Poor's Ointment. Inside the store the front of the old counters are slanted to allow the ladies with their hoop skirts to step up close to inspect the merchandise in the display cases.

The village of Bath is a must-stop destination — a small piece of Americana where you can spend hours browsing the Brick Store, cooling off with a sundae at the ice cream shop, browsing through an art gallery and antique bookstore, or relaxing on the deck overlooking the picturesque Ammonoosuc River and the Bath Covered Bridge, one of three covered bridges in the area.

Mike and Nancy Lusby bought The Brick Store in 1992, leaving California commuting behind and opting for the beauty and serenity of life in New Hampshire's White Mountains. Mike's brother Jim is indispensible as the Store Manager. Their son Michael, and daughters Mindy and Shannyn help round out this family operation.
